Kontes Domba Garut or Garut Sheep Contest is an annual event organized by students of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Padjadjaran University. The purpose of this event is to preserve the culture of Garut in order to keep it alive.
In this contest, the sheep are pitted head to head and the strongest will be the winner. No kidding, the lamb who comes out as a winner can be sold at a price almost for a car.
Flooding is a natural word that was used to hit the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. On Sunday (18/1) and Jakarta again flooded. One of the areas most severely affected by the floods are Kampung Melayu, South Jakarta.
Kampung Melayu area consists of the main highways, residential areas, and Ciliwung river. Dense residential and household garbage results are deliberately dumped in the river Ciliwung are major problems that lead to flooding.
During floods the main transport lines cut off, homes flooded almost as high as three meters, as well as the loss of valuables that the water washed away. Residents whose homes were flooded about finally fled to the village office, health centers, mosques, and the homes of relatives are not subject to flooding.
Floods inundate Kampung Melayu for almost more than a month. Along it also economic activities and transport pathways through the area stop completely.
Santolo Beach, located in the district of Cikelet, Garut Regency, West Java. This beach located on the south side of Garut or arud 88 kilometers from the center of Garut. Santolo beach has white-brown sand with a crystal clear turqoise. Visitors who are not too many people make it seems like a private beach and it is perfect for refreshing and to escape from the city.
Crystal clear waters brings benefit to the people who live around the coast of Santolo and use fishing as the source of living. In addition to fishing, they also open up places for tourists like hostel, food stalls, souvenir shop, boat rentals, etc.
In addition, in the vicinity of Santolo Beach, there is a rocket chutes that are part of the institusion Aviation Authority and National Space Agency (LAPAN). Santolo beach also used to be a Dutch-owned pier that serves to transport the spices toward large vessels at sea when the colonial period.
Actually many inscriptions that mark the position of the Netherlands on this beach. But local residents burned by the fire of hatred from the Dutch destroyed all the inscriptions.
Santolo Beach, Garut, Indonesia, is one of the many attractions that have not been known by many people.
Santolo itself consists of several islands have each coast. Local residents take advantage of this by opening a service boat to cross from one island to another island.
Because nature is still preserved, water and coral reefs in coastal Santolo are still very clear and live safely.
The water is still clear and clean making underwater ecosystem is still very awake. Therefore, many fishermen are fishing around Santolo.
With the number of tourists who come, local residents take advantage of this by opening the seafood stalls and shops selling souvenirs.
Besides its use for food stalls, the results of the fish lured by local residents are also sold to take home in the raw.
In addition to the attractions, beaches in Santolo also save a lot of historical relics of Dutch colonialism in Indonesia.

Last night(18-19/4), we met and talked until late morning. Starting from discussing about human, scientific theory, to god. A lot of knowledge and new experiences rotates among the seven of us. It was quite a pleasant night.
At last, i’m leaving Jatinangor for a while. This is the first time i got bored and really want to go back to Jakarta for some reason. Couple of hours on bus really worth it when i open the door of my house, and lay myself on my bed.

Sometimes i like to get lost into the middle of nowhere. For me, there are so many new things can be found when i got lost. At that point, i realize that i’m just a small particle in this big earth.
